Slime Rancher 2 is the continuation of the first game. Here the adventure of Beatrix Lebeau takes her to a new island named Rainbow Island. With a new island comes new slimes. So now she is setting up her ranch on this island and, along the line, discovering the land's mysteries.

But of course, to set up a ranch, you need money. The way to make money in this game is by selling Plorts. Plorts are the items a slime produces. So you will need to capture and feed them to produce plorts.

Best Ways to Farm Plorts in Slime Rancher 2

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to start and keep farming plorts for maximum profit in the game:

Get a Slime Corral

At the start, you will have to get one slime corral to hold the slimes. Each Corral costs 250 Newbucks which is the currency of this game. If you don't have the money, you can feed slimes in the wild to have them produce plorts. Then sell those to buy a Corral.

Capture Slimes and Gather Food

Now that you have a functioning corral, capture some pink slimes. 5-10 should be enough. While you are at it, you also need to gather some carrots. Place the slimes in the Corral and throw the carrots at them. They will eat those carrots and produce plorts. Repeat the process after sleeping since sleeping resets all the items in the game.

Corral Upgrade (High wall and Air Net)

Repeat the previous step until you have enough money to buy the items discussed here. Once you have enough money, buy some upgrades for the Corral so we can hold better slimes. Buy the High Walls for 260 Newbucks and Air net for 425 Newbucks. These upgrades will ensure the slimes don't jump or fly over the Corral and escape.

While you are at it, you can also buy Auto-Feeder and Plort Collector each for 500 Newbucks. They are quality-of-life items but not necessary. But if you want to keep the Corral running while you are away, you need to get these two items sooner or later.

Make Hybrids

Hybrid slimes are made by feeding one type of slime another type's plorts. Now that we have the high wall and air net go to the world and gather some cotton slimes. Throw the cotton slimes in the same Corral as the pink slimes. Feed them to produce plorts. Other slimes will eat the plorts to generate hybrid slimes.

Hybrid slimes can produce two plorts per feeding. So there is no reason not to make hybrids. You can also get rid of the non-hybrid ones if you want.

Solve the Food Problem

Now use these plorts to get enough Newbuck to create a garden. Then you can plant different items in there. This will eliminate the constant search for food and decrease the time for the whole process. Also, since you don't need to worry about finding food, getting the auto feed and plorts collector is a good idea. You can also get a music box to ensure the slimes do not escape.

Expanding Time

Since we have an okay system going, time to expand the system and make the 2nd Corral. This is where the real expensive slimes will be held. As usual, upgrade it with a high wall and air net. This time, you also need to upgrade it with a solar shield.

Another thing you need to expand is the planting area. Make an area to plant some fruit trees and leave them be. We will plant there soon.

Tabby and Phosphor

We have our 2nd Corral and garden ready to go. So time to capture some new slimes. The ones we are looking for are Tabby slimes and Phosphor Slimes. Phosphor slimes can only be found at night. So venture out in the night and capture some tabby and Phosphor. Place them inside the 2nd Corral we have prepared with a solar shield.

Plant Trees and Hybrid Slimes

Now we need to plant some fruit trees in our new garden. You can plant any trees, but it is recommended to plant Cuberry since they are the favorite fruit of Phosphor. Tabby does not eat fruit, so hybridizing them with Phosphor will make things easier to harvest.

Plorts Profit

With these two corrals, you can repeat the cycle of sleeping, gathering cabbage and fruits, feeding both corrals, and then selling them in the market. Of course, auto feed and collector help in this regard. But this is pretty much the basic harvesting system done. You can generate a lot of plorts by doing it.
